The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District is governed by a five member commission that serves without compensation.
With the establishment of the District in 2015, the initial commission is made of two members appointed by Landrum City Council, two members appointed by Spartanburg County Council, and one member appointed by the board of the Foothills Fire Service Area in Greenville County.
In 2017, their terms will end, and each commissioner will be elected in a regular election.
The daily administration of the District is the responsibility of the fire chief, who reports directly to the commission.
