Here’s what you need to know.
The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District is partnering with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a self-defense class for the public.
The class is divided in to two parts. The first is a 45-minute Power Point, and the remainder will be hands-on application.
The course will last approximately 90 minutes, and there is no cost to participate.

Nationally-certified instructor Kellie Culbreth has several dates scheduled to provide CPR instruction for the public.
Currently, scheduled classes are:
- August 3
- August 10
- August 17
- August 20
- August 27
- September 7
- September 10
- September 14
- September 17
- September 21
- September 24
All classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District headquarters.
The class size is a minimum of 1 participant and maximum of 8.
The cost for the four-hour class is $50.00. All equipment will be provided, and participants who successfully complete the class will receive a CPR certification card that is valid for two years.

Fire Extinguisher Training is available by appointment for businesses, apartment complexes, or at the station. Call the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District at 864-457-3101 to schedule a time.
The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District has 10-year smoke alarms also available upon request. Personnel from the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District will deliver and install the smoke detectors and also provide a 5-minute tutorial presentation in the home where the alarms will be placed.
