Following Sunday night’s remembrance of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Chief Warren Ashmore issued the following statement.
The commissioners and personnel of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District would like to extend a sincere thanks to everyone who participated in, attended, and helped coordinate last Sunday’s observance of the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States.
Among the 2977 victims who lost their lives that day were 343 members of the FDNY, 37 police officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, 23 officers with the NYPD, and 8 EMTs and paramedics.
The members of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District are among the millions of Americans who will be forever grateful for the sacrifices of these brave public servants. We vow to never forget their heroism in the face of unspeakable terror, and we are humble to live in and serve a community who holds those lives as dear.”
