It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former Landrum Fire Chief Joe Williams.
Chief Williams passed away at 2:10 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020. He began his fire service career as a fire fighter at Green Creek Fire Department in North Carolina and joined the Landrum Fire Department in 1970 — faithfully serving his community for 38 years before retiring.
In his service to Landrum, Joe held the position of Fire Chief from 1980 through 1986 and again from 1990 through 1993.
After his retirement, Joe and his wife Judy moved to Boiling Springs, SC where he served as a commissioner for the Boiling Springs Fire Department from 2007-2015.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. and will be conducted by Dr. Hank Williams. Following the service, a processional will escort Joe back to Evergreen Columbarium in Landrum for his entombment.

Joe Williams served the fire service well, and he will be greatly missed. His leadership was well-respected and his dedication unwavering. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
