Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District to Remember Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District will conduct its annual observance of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks against the United States.

This year’s observance will take place at the Landrum Depot at 3:00 p.m.

For planning purposes, the event’s agenda* is below.

  • Raising and Arch of the American Flag by Campobello and Inman City Ladder Trucks
  • Presentation of Colors by Polk County Memorial Honor Guard (“Amazing Grace” – Bagpipes)
  • Pledge of Allegiance — Mike Collins of the Polk County Memorial Honor Guard will call attention to the pledge
  • National Anthem — Haleigh McSwain
  • Prayer
  • Welcome — Shannon Dotson, Landrum Fire and Rescue District Logistics Lieutenant
  • Guest Speaker – Steve Boehm, FDNY (Ret.)
  • Bell Ceremony – Striking the Four Fives (Firing of Rifles and Taps presented by Polk County Memorial Honor Guard)
  • “God Bless America” – Haleigh McSwain
  • Dove Release Ceremony presented by L.J. Meyers (“Going Home” – Bagpipes)
  • Prayer
  • Conclusion of Memorial Service — Landrum Mayor Bob Briggs

Tryon Fire Department will have a steel artifact from the World Trade Center on public display at the observance.

The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District wishes to offer a special thanks to each of the afternoon’s event participants, the Town of Campobello Fire Department, the City of Inman Fire Department, the Town of Tryon Fire Department, and all first responders across the nation who place their lives in harm’s way every day to protect their friends and neighbors.

* The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District reserves the right to make changes in the event agenda pending unforeseen circumstances.

The regular monthly meeting of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission will be Monday, August 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Headquarters located at 200 N. Trade Avenue, Landrum, SC 29356.

Budget Public Hearing and Regular Commission Meeting — June 27, 2022

A Public Hearing will be held before the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission, the governing body of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District, to discuss the proposed operating budget for its fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023.

The hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the District Headquarters located at 200 N. Trade Avenue, Landrum, SC 29356.

The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission will begin following the budget public hearing.

Except for executive session allowed under state law, all meetings of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission are open to the public.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Public Hearing on Proposed FY 2022-23 District Budget

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
LANDRUM AREA FIRE AND RESCUE DISTRICT
PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 OPERATING BUDGET

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held before the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission, the governing body of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District, to discuss the proposed operating budget for its fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023.

The hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the District Headquarters located at 200 N. Trade Avenue, Landrum, SC 29356. The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission will begin immediately following the budget public hearing.

The budget for the current fiscal year calls for revenues of $992,000 and expenditures of $992,000.

The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 calls for revenues of $ 1,102.655.57 and expenditures of $1,102.655.57.

Ad valorem property tax in the amount of 45.9 Mills for the Spartanburg County portion of the District and 45.9 Mills for the Greenville County portion of the District is expected for the Fire District to partially meet the operational needs for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. No millage increase is anticipated over the current year.

In accordance with state law, notification for this public hearing was published in or will be published in the Spartanburg Herald-Journal on June 10th and 19th and in the Tryon Daily Bulletin on June 12th and 19th.
