“Fire Prevention Week” 2016 is October 9-15. This year’s theme is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.”

We plan to spread this message throughout the community along with presentations that include:

  • Landrum First Baptist Church Preschool (10/10),
  • Abby’s Daycare (10/11),
  • Miss Tammy’s Learning Center/Clubhouse (10/12), and
  • O.P. Earle Elementary (10/14).

Firefighter Mark Rollins with the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District talks about smoke detectors and how easy it is to have them installed in your home.

NOTE: The program described in the accompanying video applies only to residents of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District. If you are not a resident of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District, check with your local fire department. It may have a similar program in place to help you.

A “Thank You” To Our Community

Following Sunday night’s remembrance of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Chief Warren Ashmore issued the following statement.

The commissioners and personnel of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District would like to extend a sincere thanks to everyone who participated in, attended, and helped coordinate last Sunday’s observance of the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States.

Among the 2977 victims who lost their lives that day were 343 members of the FDNY, 37 police officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, 23 officers with the NYPD, and 8 EMTs and paramedics.

The members of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District are among the millions of Americans who will be forever grateful for the sacrifices of these brave public servants. We vow to never forget their heroism in the face of unspeakable terror, and we are humble to live in and serve a community who holds those lives as dear.”
